“THE HILLS ARE ALIVE... ”
FEBRUARY 2011

In December 2010 James Willebrant was commissioned by The Leura Village Association
to create an image that would be the inspiration for a limited edition poster of 200 to celebrate the inaugural
Valentine’s Weekend in Leura Festival.
Reproduced below is the Original painting and the Poster Image.
The work is a distillation of the essence of many iconic mountain landscapes and the prominence of
Art Deco influences in classic locations such as the Everglades Gardens which visitors to the Blue Mountains will find evocative.
The Leura Mall forms the centre piece of the work, the heart of Leura,
where people and their pooches picnic and watch the world go by,
all dominated by the grand structures of mountain conifers, blue misty escarpments
and the romantic Cherry tree.
